Portland Japanese Garden

Location: Portland, Oregon

Featured Products: RPG Perfecto Micro Panels

The Portland Japanese Garden offers an authentic, traditional Japanese garden experience within downtown's Washington Park. Designed by a collaboration between Hacker Architects and renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the expansion was completed in 2017. Four modestly scaled, layered buildings welcome garden visitors, melding the sloping landscape and tall conifers. The Japanese Garden has long been known for its ability to transport visitors from the clamor of a bustling city to a quiet communion with nature. To help bolster that sense of calm, acoustic attenuation was in order. The buildings feature an acoustical ceiling system by RPG and designed by acoustical engineer Tobin Cooley of Listen Acoustics. The Perfecto Micro Panels fuse architecture and acoustical performance seamlessly—a beautiful, high-performance system that softens ambient sound via the thousands of nearly invisible .5 mm holes in each panel.
